Tub of mushy peas - 95p
Taylors is exactly how you imagine a traditional fish and chip shop to be and has been quite rightly been a winner of the competition in the past.
The recently refurbished interior, which sees a sensible new lay-out which allows for more people to be served at once, looked spotless.
In the interest of fairness with Taylors being a half an hours drive from our home in Cardiff, we tucked into our meal straightaway.
The portions were generous, with the fish clearly fresh, perfectly prepared and melt in the mouth.
The batter it is cooked in was worth the hour long round trip on its own, the chips were also to a high standard.
No complaints about the fish, either, with a large piece of cod in a nice, crispy batter and when you add in top notch service, it was a very pleasant experience.
You can see why people travel from miles around to this chippie and the portions were very generous.
Verdict: 8.5/10 A real Rolls Royce of a chip shop. These guys know exactly how to wow their customers and have the awards to prove it. Superb
